| EBERHARDTS’ EDITIONfrom our to your September 2025Saturday September 6th – 2025 Flash Crash BoomThe Mitla Center takes a direct hit. The Wifi goes down and all network services cease. No one complains or says anything and we don’t learn about it until Sunday. The damage is significant. A main OSI level 3 switch is destroyed, a bunch of lightning arrestors give their lives. A video projector dies. An electronic latch is irreparable … we are still discovering the loses. With the use of older equipment and spare lightning arrestors service is restored sometime Tuesday. I have purchased hundreds of dollars in replacement items. We have used all our spare lightning arrestors and there were 7 or 8 of them, some only partly serviceable. We are waiting for the replacement items to arrive. We are thankful that the lightning arrestors were lost and not the items they were protecting, minus the key switch which is a sad loss. The switch was insured. but still the expense for other things is significant. We are also thankful that we did not lose either of the main Internet servers, which would have been even more catastrophic. We are thankful for the older equipment which is carrying us through until the replacement equipment arrives later this month. And we are thankful that noone was hurt. The Center was almost completely empty at the time. The damage was over the entire property. ————– Psalm 135:7 New Living Translation He causes the clouds to rise over the whole earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses.
